Okay so this blog is catching me a moment of pure frustration with the ol inter web. My current class, in which this blog is necessary, has suddenly decided to tell me there are tech tasks due. Now, if I had a hard copy of the course outline and proper explanations of what exactly is due I would have them completed. Instead we kind of have to do these on-line tech tasks via the internet (which I struggle to use) and I honestly have finally located the actual tasks but read the task without a hot clue how to even do them on the internet. I need to learn how to use the internet and instead of relying on visual hard copy mater representations of assignment: I need to learn how to see the documents up on the screen and understand them. It is a weird transition for me I think as I am a hands on learner: merely reading the tasks on-line do not really tap into my learning self.

ANYWAYS, the plan is to get my ducks in a row in terms of the tech tasks and figure it out. Also I forgot snack today.. that was the icing on the cake to my frustration. I do love technology but sometimes I just do not know how to stay on top of it. Which is why I am extremely happy to be in this class because I want to learn how to learn using the internet. On a side note I went 14 hours without internet yesterday and I felt uneasy the whole day... whats going on? Have I missed something on Facebook? On Twitter? What if someone is trying to get a hold of me... blah blah blah. Sure enough, I finally get reconnected and to my dismay: NOTHING. No inbox messages, no tweets, no emails... in 14 hours! Sooo moral of the story life can go on with out our dear friend I-web but its really not as fun or as creative.

  1. I totally get your frustration with the internet. I often feel the same way about it, since I don't know enough about it to a lot of things online. I am also happy to be in a class where we will be learning these skills, hopefully making the internet a little less frustrating.
I also agree with the sense of disconnect you get from being away from the internet, just show how much has changed. Oh well, we will just have to keep calm and muddle on.

  2. Hey Erin!

I like your Hashtagging. I hear you on the tech rant: I just feel like it takes SO MUCH TIME to learn how to use technology (since there is soooooo much of it, and each facet is different), that I am hesitant to learn. But like you, I also understand that it is a necessity, so I keep taking courses about it, and, as Liz states ever so eloquently, I keep trying to "keep calm and muddle on."

Don't beat yourself up over snack - you saved me from spoiling my supper ;P

  3. Ya I hear what everyone is talking about. I wonder if it is because It seems that there is so much available to us. We either don't know what website or app to use because there are so many options or we don't know when to use it because everything seems so new and we are still learning how to use everything.

But of course, this is why we are in this class. Good post Erin!

  4. I agree with all that has been said. I also feel like there is soooooooo much to learn that I almost don't want to. When I learn something new, I wanna know how to use it properly right now. I don't want to sit at a computer for hours trying to figure it all out. I want to know everything right a ways. So patience is something that I need to work on, especially in technology!

  5. I agree, it can be really confusing because when are accustomed to getting a paper syllabus for all of our classes. Everything on the internet is presented in a non-liner way, which can be difficult to get used to. You might know this already, but all of the tech tasks and assignments are listed with descriptions on the moodle site. There is also a syllabus pdf available there. If you didn't know that already then I hope that helps!
